Where there is life, there
is hope!
~Terri's
own words, prior to her collapse~
|
When is that b*tch gonna die?
~Quote from Michael Schiavo~
|
|
"What I do you cannot do;
but what you do, I cannot do.
The needs are great, and none of us,
including me, ever do great things.
But we can all do small things, with great love,
and together we can do something wonderful."
- Mother Teresa- |

The prolonged battle for
Terri's life, in her last months,
became an international issue of concern. This is not an
attempt to record all the arguments, documentation, and other
specifics surrounding Terri's life. This page,
originally created to unite those "outside" individuals who became
burdened for seeing Terri granted the freedom to remain alive,
and her loving family allowed the opportunity to simply and
freely, with wholehearted fervor, apply themselves to her
far-too-long-denied rehabilitation, will now continue covering
the ongoing fight for the other Terri's in our world. For a full record of "all
things official" about Terri and the officially-endorsed
work of her family you may visit
their home on the
web, the
Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation.

still be wondering or trying to decide why we were so
adamant about fighting for Terri's life, please see this
story about another victim of brain damage:

Please consider that,
like Sara Scantlin, we felt Terri, though unable to
communicate effectively without her long-denied
rehabilitation, was aware of her surroundings. |

On
Friday, March 18, 2005, at approximately 1:45 p.m.
(EST), Terri's feeding tube was disconnected for
the third time since she became disabled...
...Terri
Schiavo, 41, died Thursday, March 31st,
thirteen days after her feeding tube was removed by a judge's
order, and after failed attempts by even Congress and the
White House to intervene.
My
Beautiful Friend Has Died
|
|
In the beginning...This
was
a young woman who was mysteriously and grievously
injured on February 25, 1990, while alone with her
husband (himself a trained EMT who says he administered
"mouth-to-mouth", although she was found by paramedics,
summonsed by her brother, the only person Michael
bothered to call, face DOWN in the hall while
hubby-Michael sat on the couch in another room). The
paramedics were sufficiently suspicious to have two
Sarasota police officers file a report. |
April 24, 2005 - An
Update from Mary Schindler...In
due time, they [Schindler family] plan on making a
public appearance to talk to all the wonderful people
who stood by Terri and their family during her tragic
death. Understandably, they are all very tired, and are
in need of quiet time away from the media and to be
alone with their immediate family to grieve and talk
about the loss of their daughter.
The Schindlers are very grateful for the thousands of
cards their family has been receiving from all over the
world. Mary told me [Cheryl Ford, R.N. and advocate for
protecting the rights of the disabled community] several
were in other languages. She plans on having each and
every one of them translated, so she can read and
respond to them. She said it may take her years to send
thank you notes back to the thousands who have written,
but her intentions are to write a personal note to all
of you.
In summary, words
from Mary Schindler:
4/22/2005 3:00 PM ET
"My heart aches over the loss of my daughter. She was a
part of my daily life for the last 41 years. She would
have been residing in our home with us for the last
fifteen years had she been allowed. She was, and will
always be, my baby. I will never forget her. I miss her
terribly. The pain and distress she was in during her
final days because of what they did to her will never
leave my mind. Bob has a difficult time sleeping at
night. The last we were told was Michael cremated Terri.
This week, our attorneys told us she is still here in
Florida. Michael will not tell us where, or what he will
do with her, and this breaks my heart. As her Mother, I
want my daughter to be buried where our family may visit
her gravesite. Our only relief right now comes in
knowing they can bring no more harm to her. We know that
she is safe and in the protective hands of God."

Statement of the
Schindler Family:

Pinellas Park, Florida
- As you are aware, Terri is now with God and she has
been released from all earthly burdens. After these
recent years of neglect at the hands of those who were
supposed to protect and care for her, she is finally at
peace with God for eternity. We are speaking on behalf
of our entire family this evening as we share some
thoughts and messages to the world regarding our sister
and the courageous battle that was waged to save her
life from starvation and dehydration.
We have a message for
the volunteers that have helped our family: Thank you for all that you've done for our family. Thank
you to the hundreds of doctors who volunteered to help
Terri. Thank you to the fifty doctors who provided
statements under oath to help Terri. Thank you to the
lawyers who stood for Terri’s life in the courtrooms of
our nation. From running our family’s website, to
driving us around, to making meals, to serving in so
many ways -- thank you to all of the volunteers who have
been so kind to our family through all of this.
We have a message for the supporters and people praying
worldwide:
Please continue to pray that God gives grace to our
family as we go through this very difficult time. We
know that many of you never had the privilege to
personally know our wonderful sister, Terri, but we
assure you that you can be proud of this remarkable
woman who has captured the attention of the world.
Following the example of the Lord Jesus, our family
abhors any violence or any threats of violence.
Threatening words dishonor our faith, our family, and
our sister, Terri. We would ask that all those who
support our family be completely kind in their words and
deeds toward others.
We have a message to the media:
We appreciate your taking Terri’s case to the nation.
Please afford our family privacy to grieve at this
time. The patience and graciousness of the on-site media
here at hospice has been deeply appreciated by our
family.
We have a message to the many government officials who
tried to help Terri:
Thank you for all that you've done. Our family will be
forever grateful to all of the outstanding public
servants who have tried to save Terri.
We have a message to all of the religious leaders who
tried to help Terri:
Thank you to all people of faith who demonstrated love
for Terri and strength of conviction to defend the
sacredness of all human life as a precious gift from
God.
Our family is highly honored that the Holy Father, Pope
John Paul II, would speak out so boldly on behalf of our
sister, Terri.
We have a message of forgiveness:
Throughout this ordeal, we are reminded of the words of
Jesus on the cross: “Father forgive them for they know
not what they do.” Our family seeks forgiveness for
anything that we have done in standing for Terri’s life
that has not demonstrated the love and compassion
required of us by our faith.
We have a message to parents worldwide:
Our family would encourage parents to spend time with
their children and to cherish each and every moment of
each and every day with them as a precious gift from
God.
We have a message to Terri from her family:
As a member of our family unable to speak for yourself,
you spoke loudly. As a member of our family unable to
stand under your own power, you stood with a grace and a
dignity that made your family proud. Terri, we love you
dearly, but we know that God loves you more than we do.
We must accept your untimely death as God’s will.
Terri, your life and legacy will continue to live on, as
the nation is now awakened to the plight of thousands of
voiceless people with disabilities that were previously
unnoticed. Your family intends to stand up for the other
“Terri’s” around this nation and we will do all that we
can to change the law so others won't face the same fate
that has befallen you.
We have a final thought to share:
Our family had hoped this day would never come, but as
it has now arrived, we ask ourselves a question in these
incredibly sad circumstances: What would the Lord Jesus
ask us to do in a moment like this? In John’s Gospel,
Jesus responded to the questions of the rabbis, who
asked why a man had been born blind. He said: “it is so
that the works of God might be made manifest through
him.”
God’s plan for Terri is unfolding before our eyes. Our
prayer at this time is that our Nation will remember the
plight of persons with disabilities and commit within
our hearts to defend their lives and their dignity for
many generations to come.

Timeline, etc. |
|
East Windsor, New
Jersey (PRWEB) - Senior Arts and Systems presents the
release of Remembering Terri Schiavo: Reflections
of a Health Care Warrior by Audrey Ignatoff.
This book is a memorial
to Terri Schiavo. It is an analysis of her life and
death from a medical sociological perspective. Her
case is very important because it will have an impact
on the disabled population and may lead to euthanasia.
It is important for people in the nursing home and
hospice industry to be familiar with this case.
Audrey has been an
ardent supporter of Terri Schiavo, and has written
numerous articles about her case, including, “Saving
Terri Schiavo” published in The Human Life Review,
Winter, 2004. She is also the co-author of a book
dedicated to her entitled, The New Underground
Railroad: Health Care Warriors.
Bonnie Rogoff, founder
of Jews for Life, states, “Thanks to Audrey’s efforts
and the information provided in this important book,
Americans will learn about laws and regulations
regarding health care and become familiar with the
skyrocketing costs and inherent dangers within the
system that threaten our civil rights.”
Remembering Terri
Schiavo: Reflections of a Health Care Warrior is
available in paperback and digital form from
